Marvell The company recently introduced its new processor technology Shiva, for use in embedded solutions. Shiva will be actively implemented in chips class SoC (System-on-Chip, system on chip) and cover a wide variety of product categories, including mobile devices, consumer electronics, data storage systems for businesses.
Of the major advantages of its new design notes Marvell good scalability, which allows flexibility to adjust the area of processor cores, performance and power consumption depending on the specific requirements. Shiva combines ARM architecture and 65 - nm tehprotsess and, in the view of developers, is an optimum combination of price and functionality.
One of the first products with the technology became Shiva series SoC-chip Marvell 88F6000, which can be integrated into home routers, media servers, game consoles, mobile Internet devices (MID). Marvell 88F6000 can be used as a central processor, as well as a coprocessor, which can reduce the burden on the main processor and graphics unit.
The new series SoC-chips includes three models, 88F6180, 88F6192 and 88F6281, the latter of which can boast of work at the clock frequency of 2 GHz, with capacity of less than 2 Watts. Study chips already shipped samples of partners.
